The relationship between design and technical communication is significant. It's not enough to be concise or clear; a document must appeal to the user's aesthetics. A document must understand its audience. A document must understand its rhetorical situation. Often, instructions are thrown to the side, unused, and left behind. Think of a set of instructions you've never considered before. Consider something you use or do every day that requires instructions. Consider these things and more to guide you in this assignment.

- Consider the audience. What are their expectations?
- Then, you will com up with five principles of design for yourself.
- Consider the video of Dieter Rams we watched in class!
- Finally, you will used these new principles of design to guide in formatting the set of instructions; you will design the instructions with your new principles in mind.
- Remember: keep the integrity of the instructions in tact.
