- SWA2 - Instructions: How to Save a Life
- Chapter 1 of the textbook.
For homework, the students have participated on a discussion board responding to this topic:
- Post 3 things that you are good at and why. Then respond to two people on the discussion board with questions about 1 of their particular skills of which you do not know.

- Think of what a DIY means to you. What are its conventions? Do you use DIYs? why or why not? Consider some things you wish you were better at. What would you find useful in a DIY?
- Read the New Yorker article (found bellow) aloud to each other.
- Have a short discussion in class about the importance and conventions of a DIY.
- Write conventions on the board that the students come up with -or- have them write it.
- Split up into pairs, and share the things you are good at and how you might might a DIY out of them.
- Ask your partner:
- What are some things you would need to know before I start the instruction?
- This question is considering the student's audience.
